During an unseasonably warm winter day in 2003, these Reindeer were photographed at Connecticut's only zoo - The Beardsely Zoo in Bridgeport and the former home to where PT Barnum used to store his circus animals when not on the road ... BeardsleyZoo.org is a great place for the family and as we like to say, "There is Love in there!"
As fyi, Reindeer were domesticated in northern Eurasia about 2000 years ago. Today, they are herded by many Arctic, including the Sami in Scandinavia and the Nenets, Chukchi and others in Russia, who depend on reindeer for food, clothing and shelter. Reindeer hair traps air to give them insulation in cold temperatures and also keep them buoyant in water. They are strong swimmers. Photos by ChuckScott.com
